Today I want to bring you my Shoreditch High Street guide. This cool road in London’s East End is an exciting place to eat, drink, browse, and discover. Its hipster vibe and variety of things to entertain people throughout the day and night make it a local London favorite. Read on for my top picks for things to do on this famous road in Shoreditch. I’ve included a map, too.
Shoreditch High Street
Shoreditch High Street runs through east London. Part of the A10 and a segment of the ancient Roman Ermine Street, it goes from Old Street and Kingsland Road in the north to Folgate Street and Norton Folgate in the south.
Shoreditch High Street is known for its abundance of trendy restaurants, bars, shops, and pubs. There’s great street art here, not to mention the 18th-century facade of George Dance the Elder’s Shoreditch Church.
The road is surrounded by great side streets bursting with life, too. From Calvert Street with its coffee shops to Rivington Street with its bars, they help make this part of London worth a special trip.
How to Get to Shoreditch High Street
It’s easy to get to Shoreditch High Street from other parts of London. To the west of the road, Old Street station is served by the Northern Line of the tube and numerous trains and local buses.
To the south, Liverpool Street station is served by the tube, Overground, trains, and buses. In the middle, Shoreditch High Street station on Bethnal Green Road is served by the Overground and by local buses.
You can also walk, cycle, or ride a scooter to Shoreditch High Street from areas like Hackney, Spitalfields, Dalston, Wapping, Bethnal Green, Clerkenwell, the City of London, and Whitechapel. In short, there’s no excuse to stay away.
Hotels on Shoreditch High Street
If you want to stay on Shoreditch High Street, you have a lot of good options.
One Hundred Shoreditch is right on the high street. It numbers among the best places to call home-away-from-home in the area. I love its modern decor and cool bars. You can book a room here.
Just off the high street, Boundary is another popular place to stay in Shoreditch. With its famous rooftop bar and stylish atmosphere, it’s a great choice. You can book a room here.
Other popular hotels near Shoreditch High Street include citizenM and The Hoxton. The latter is one of the best quirky hotels in London, and it’s one of my personal favorites.
I’ve stayed at The Hoxton before and I’ve been many times for meals, meetings, and drinks. If you want to follow in my footsteps, you can book a room here.
There are plenty of other options on and around the high street, too. You can see a range of places and book one here. Whether you’re looking for a hip hotel or an apartment rental, you’ll find accommodation that fits your travel style and preferences.
Shoreditch High Street Bars & Pubs
Once here, one of the best things to do on Shoreditch High Street is immerse yourself in the nightlife scene. This road is among the most famous places to go in London at night, and there’s no shortage of spots to enjoy a cocktail.
If you want something fun, one of my favorite places here is Bar Kick. This multi-level watering hole is known for its table football, and it’s always enjoyable to spend an evening here in friendly competition.
Another exciting one is Barrio. This Latin-themed place is known for its colorful decor, DJs, and cocktails. There’s a great outdoor area that wraps around to Rivington Street, too.
If you like heights, The Rooftop bar in the One Hundred Shoreditch hotel is a great option (as is Seed Library, another of the hotel’s watering holes). Just off the high street, the rooftop bar at Boundary is one of my favorites in the area.
If you like vino, Shoreditch Wine House is just the spot. And if you’re looking for a good all-rounder, The Edge Bar is for you.
There are great pubs on Shoreditch High Street as well. Goose Island Brewpub has a good selection of beers, and The Crown and Shuttle has a fun atmosphere and a huge beer garden.
Shops on Shoreditch High Street
Another great thing to do on Shoreditch High Street is shop. There’s a lot of retail excitement to be found here, especially if you like all things hip and trendy.
On the street itself you can find places like Atomic Antiques, which has an impressive selection of furniture, ceramics, and other home decor. There’s also Emalin, a contemporary art gallery, and AIDA, a hip boutique with an in-house cafe.
Then there’s Cowling & Wilcox, which is perfect if you’re looking for art supplies, and The Brokedown Palace if you’re a lover of the outdoors.
And that’s to say nothing of hip clothing stores like Carhartt WIP, htown, Glassworks, EDWIN, and Weekday. SNS London is a cool shoe shop, too.
If you’re into well-being, Mystika is the place for you. It sells everything from crystals to essential oils.
My favorite place to shop around Shoreditch High Street is Redchurch Street. This side road is known for everything from its contemporary clothing shops to its jewelry stores and cosmetics boutiques.
Restaurants on Shoreditch High Street
It’s not just shopping and nightlife that draw people here, though. There are excellent restaurants on Shoreditch High Street, too. This road is bursting with delicious places to eat, and you can find food from across the globe here.
If you want something fun, Piehole is a great choice. This place specializes in pie and mash, and its kitchen blends tradition and innovation to produce creative takes on classic favorites.
If you like pizza, this street is home to the delicious Rudy’s Pizza Napoletana and outposts of popular London chains like Pizza Pilgrims and Pizza East. If burgers are your thing, you’ll find Burger and Beyond to your liking.
You can also find a range of Asian cuisine here. From the ever-popular Sticks’n’Sushi to the iconic Dishoom and the creatively-named Bull in a China Shop, there’s no shortage of places to love.
If small plates are your idea of a good meal, Sohaila is a good choice. And if you’re looking for Modern European food in a cool contemporary space, The Light Bar & Dining is just the ticket.
If you simply want a snack or a sweet treat, places like Lola’s Cupcakes, Bagelbuzz, and the casual places in Boxpark Shoreditch are for you.
Coffee Shops
If you’re after a coffee, there are plenty of good places to find one on Shoreditch High Street. CoBalance is a popular option, and the aforementioned AIDA is a great place to sip and shop.
Dark Arts Coffee is just around the corner on Holywell Lane, and it’s worth a special trip, too. Some say it has the best espresso drinks in the city.
And that’s to say nothing of local favorites like Beans love Greens and Paper and Cup on Calvert Avenue. It’s fun to pick up a coffee and sip it while walking around Arnold Circus and down to Redchurch Street.
Markets
As far as markets go, there’s a good one on Shoreditch High Street. Pop-ups grace the road often, too.
Urban Food Fest is the mainstay of the area. Located in the Euro Car Park, this Saturday market features a range of outdoor food and drink stalls offering cuisine from all over the world.
From 12pm to 12am, you can find food trucks, gazebos, and stalls selling everything from Jamaican food to vegan fare, craft ales, and jam jar cocktails. Themed events with decorations, entertainment, and food to match take place regularly, too.
Street Art
Shoreditch is synonymous with street art, and there’s plenty of it to see on and around the high street. It’s a good idea to look up and around while you’re walking down the road, as you’ll spot it in all kinds of unlikely spaces.
My favorite place to see street art in Shoreditch is New Inn Yard. This side road just off the high street is known for its colorful murals, and it’s worth a detour to see them.

Local Area
There are a lot of places around Shoreditch High Street that are worth a visit when you’re in the neighborhood. From the famous Columbia Road Flower Market to Brick Lane and Old Spitalfields Market, they’re all good spots to explore nearby.
